Mr. Huff has a Chemical Engineering degree from Queens University and an MBA from the University of Toronto. He has 25 years of operational and management experience in the plastics and battery industry, including 2 years experience as a venture capitalist. Mr. Huff spent 5 years as CEO of Ballard’s Battery Division, eventually spinning it off from Ballard to form BlueStar Battery Systems, now part of Eagle-Picher. Significant accomplishments of that tenure included raising venture capital funds, taking the company to public ownership, displacing a key market competitor by negotiating a $50 to $70 million contract with the US Army to produce BA5590 batteries.
Mr. Huff was also instrumental in developing two additional advanced battery technologies from the Laboratory to a Certified Product for the US Army. Mr. Huff’s experience in high volume manufacturing in both the Plastics and Battery industries uniquely positions Tekion for its role as a high volume fuel cell producer.
